Interesting, informative & sad as those who won’t take DNA tests now due to fears for their privacy probably are on Facebook, etc., where privacy is almost non-existent and, as you indicated, of more use in identifying criminals or solving old crimes than the DNA information. I personally have opted in for myself on Gedmatch although not for the two relatives whose kits I manage.
It helped me make informed decisions about my DNA submission.
