General rules of DNA inheritance assume independent genealogical lines. However, cases of endogamy, pedigree collapse and multiple levels of relationship to any given genetic match merit additional considerations for analysis and interpretation. Explore strategies such as segment analysis, targeted testing, anchoring, and variable segment thresholds for overcoming the challenges of endogamy, pedigree collapse or multiple relationships in your DNA test results.

A bit over my head but I do feel that I have a better understanding of my husband’s endogamy. He is from a small community of French Canadians settle in an area isolated from the English speaking community, both of his parents are from this community, luckily both of his grandfathers married outside of this groups and therefore have weakened the endogamy effect. Now I need to visit the other sources indicated by Paul and watch this one again.
A little over my head, but I did get some basic points from it. Now I have to look for descendants of one couple of 4th grandparents, to see if I can separate their line from another Irish line, because the genetic cousins I have so far are all descended from both lines, as am I, due to brothers marrying sisters 6 generations ago.
A lot of very good content clearly presented
A very good insight to a complex enough topic without adding in endogamy. Thanks! Learned a lot. Lots to try out.
Always love to listen to Paul’s webinars-tons of new info to explore!
Amazing
Amazing! Loaded with helpful explanations, organized to help us address our genealogy puzzles.
Another brilliant webinar from Paul. Thank you all so much!
another great webinar!
Appreciate the information that was shared.
Appreciate the topic. I had a few lightbulb moments and I’m excited about trying some of the suggested analyses.
Awesome Very Informative and helpful!!!!!!
Awesome!
Covered a lot of information.
Detailed subject but useful practice tips! to help understanding
Excellent
Excellent explanation and great ideas for dealing with endogamy. Thank you very much.
Excellent presentation.
Excellent presenter, both content and delivery. Thank you!
excellent syllabus, as well
Excellent tips and explanations. Great examples!
Excellent!
Excellent! Excellent! Paul Woodbury is one of the best speakers on DNA. I’ve attended several of his lectures on and off Legacy Family Tree Webinars. He explains everything so clearly.
Excellent!!
Excellent, but I missed much of it because of another commitment. Fortunately, I have a subscription!
Excellent. Thank you.
exceptional!!
Fabulous explanations with difficult subject.
Fantastic! Can’t wait for the next one!
Fascinating
Fast and deep, time well spent, need time to decompress, loved it!
First webinar; found it very interesting as my paternal line is completely Acadian from New Brunswick/Nova Scotia
good
good info
Great
Great info, Paul is a great presenter.
Great information and detail. Thanks for sharing!
Great information and easy to follow.
Great information! Some of it was beyond me, but I am glad to have such a detailed syllabus and also previous webinars to fill in what I didn’t understand tonight.
Great job, thanks Paul and FTW!
Great presentation.
Great topic, great speaker
Great webinar. Easy to follow considering the complexity of the topic. Gave me some new techniques to consider.
Great webminar by Paul as usual!
Great well presented well explained I like the graphic about groups so much easier to understand and see how the groups are visually. Thanks PAUL !
Great!
great. Thanks paul. My head is spinning.
He covered a lot of material and it will be good to review the syllabus and watch it again. The suggested research techniques will be quite useful. Thank you both!
I agree on all accounts but one–X DNA can be extremely challenging to trace even at 30 cMs. Otherwise, all very good, and thanks
I have so much to learn..
I hope to employ some of the ideas gleaned from this webinar. Presenter Paul Woodbury is a genius.
I realized that I have pedigree collapse, not endogamy on my tree, so this webinar was not for me.
I really enjoyed it.
I think I’ll need to re-watch this one to help me really understand my endogamous Newfoundland cousins. Thank you
I was not able to establish a good connection or downlaod the hand out.
I will enjoy trying these suggestions. — Soon.
I’m new to ancestry research and this webinar helped me understand better about DNA relationships and how to discern close and not-so-close matches. My heritage is Mennonite from Northern Europe for which there are extensive records housed in a database. Extremely endogenous connections based on the info in this webinar. Thanks.
Interesting discussion. But I learned that I have pedigree collapse on my fathers family, not endogamy.
It really helped clarify what I can assume from genetic pioneer data, which I had often thought but wasn’t confident to assume. Also various other tips were helpful.
It was a bit advanced for someone new to the subject. Also, it would have been nice to be able to see the speakers.
It was really interesting and a lot of information. I’ve forgotten whether this webinar was promoted as suitable for advanced DNA users, but it should be.
It’s a bit advanced for me. But I did definitely learn that pedigree collapse and endogamy are not the same thing.
Just too advanced for me.
Little too advanced for me but took away a few points.
Lots of info – I had to come in late so I hope to re-watch later. Thanks!
Lots of information. This is the kind of webinar you need to watch more than once.
Lots of stuff new to me, well-organized and presented so it made sense- I learned a lot and looking forward to applying it. Experienced a few light bulbs going off already.
Loved it! I’ve been to Paul’s endogamous presentations before in the past and this time, I really loved his strategies!
Made several items clearer. Not for the beginner.
Much needed information! Presenter was very clear, organized & knowledgeable. Great suggestions for further learning. Thanks!
Much of the webinar was over my head – need to re-watch another time or two. Great information, however.
New concept to me is Genetic Pioneers. A different way to consider my French Canadian Grandfather who married into my deep Early New England ancestry.
Paul gave some great tips, looking forward to trying them out!
Paul is a great teacher with thorough handouts!
Paul is ALWAYS great! He is knowledgeable and able to communicate this knowledge to others. Fabulous presentation!
Paul Woodbury is knowledgeable and interesting speaker.
Paul Woodbury presents the information in an easy to understand format.
Quite helpful
Really great presentation on a difficult topic. The visuals were very helpful
really great, but reviewed concepts a little bit too fast
Really helpful. Told some others to watch as well.
So glad to finally have a webinar on endogamy – I know that I will be rewatching again in the future
so much info in a short time. I’ll know better after I digest the syllabus and try the techniques.
So much rich and useful information. I will be watching this presentation several times. Thank you Paul!!!
Some great ideas presented! Much appreciated❣️
something so badly needed, such great help. Thank you
Spot On – Great Explanations. Liked his “Your Turn” to-dos. Will be watching this again and watching his other webinars. Very easy to listen to and keep up.
Still learning the terms and links.
still trying to understand some of the language to be able to understand some aspects of DNA results
technical content was specific and helpful but hard to process without syllabus. Important topic to have presented. Thanks!
Thank you, an amazing and informative presentation.
Thank you, Paul! I think I learn something new from you every time.
The presentation was excellent, but I did not understand it as well as I would have liked.
The webinar included lots of great information. Several of the topics deserve webinars all on their own!
This is one to review a few time and use the links stated in the handout.
This was a good introduction for me. Thank you.
This was too advanced for me. I would to have a sequence to follow from DNA beginner & upward.
This webinar was excellent! It contained a lot of valuable and practical tips for using DNA in genealogy research. I especially appreciate the Your Turn! exercises. They are very helpful to DNA newbies who are hands-on learners like myself.
Very advanced, but I can see ways I can begin to distinguish between useable matches. Thank you!
Very clear presentation. Good pace. Good graphics.
Very good explanation of a complex subject.
Very good presentation. Very interesting
very helpful
Very informative
Very informative and interesting!
Very informative webinar! Paul is a great teacher!
Very interesting and informative
Very interesting! I learned things that I did not know how to do. Thank you!!
Very interesting! I’ll have to watch again. thank you
very interesting. But just a little above my level at this point. I’m learning!
very interesting. gave me some ideas. well done.
Very much appreciated the level of detail presented and speed of doing so. Allowed you to cover more topics than I expected. Usually too much basic or background material is covered before the nuggets.
Very useful. I have used some of these approaches already, but his expiations were great and I did get some new tips as well!
Very valuable. Just need time to implement the suggestions…
Very well prepared and presented. Thank you!
Very well presented & I feel I’m finally getting to understand DNA
Was good, but moved very fast. I’ll have to watch MANY more times to absorb all he had to say. Glad I’m a member and can watch it again.
was great
Was great. I wish the syllabus addressed the parents being related to each other.
well done now it is starting to make sense at last.
