About this webinar

Oral tradition told the story; DNA identified the father. The case study illustrates using matches on Ancestry and GEDmatch to narrow the number of candidates, developing and implementing a targeted testing plan, hypothesis development and using documentary evidence to support the conclusion—while complying with genetic standards. The use of the X-match, not often employed is utilized as well. It’s a simple case to illustrate basic principles without jargon.

A lot I didn’t know and realize that I need to learn more

Always the best webinars provided at Legacy! Thanks allot

    Another great presentation!

    Appreciated the X fan chart!

As always, her webinars are outstanding. Had to leave early but will definitely watch the recorded version.

Brilliant webinar, giving great advice on how we can use DNA to track down unknown relatives.

Came in a bit late, but would want to re-watch regardless! Trying to get a grasp on DNA genealogy is Hard, and this helps!

Clear presentation that made using DNA for matching relationships doable. It has seemed like a tall task before, and now it seems like a doable task now. Thank you.

Clear, step-by-step, easy to follow, lots of good info.

Enjoyed Jill’s style. I was very excited to see this webinar since the Dec 2018 article is an upcoming NGSQ discussion group read. I am looking forward to reading the article and diving deeper into this analysis.

Enjoyed the webinar. Appreciated you talking through your logic at each step. Makes more sense to hear the thinking process. Thank you!

    Excellent

    Excellent

Excellent – Well organized for learning.

    Excellent presentation.

    Excellent +++++!

    Excellent and very helpful!!

excellent case study and how to go about it.

Excellent content. I plan to go back and listen a second time.

Excellent information & style of presentation. Thank you!

    Excellent presentation

Excellent presentation on a timely subject.

    Excellent presentation! Thanks!

Excellent presentation. I was able to follow her clearly documented processes and explanations.

Excellent presentation. She made the process understandable and was very clear.

Excellent presentation. Well documented. Explained at a reasonable pace.

    Excellent speaker!

    Excellent webinar.

    Excellent!

Excellent! I learned a lot. I really never thought about how useful the X chromosome might be for researching.

Excellent! I’ve watched most of the DNA webinars out there and it’s very useful to have case studies to see how others put it into practice. Thank you Jill Morelli and Legacy.

    Excellent!!

    Excellent!!

    Fabulous case study!

Finally, a DNA presentation that makes me think I can do DNA research myself. Jill provided a very thorough, step by step, process that was easy to understand.

Gave me some good resources and strategies to try. Some of the steps used by the presenter need clarification.

Go one! I like how thorough she was.

Going to take her tips and tricks to help me find my cousins father

good case to use as example; little confusing for newbie-to-DNA — but good references to other webinars to learn from.

    Good information and clearly presented.

    Good!

great example using DNA and traditional research to answer a research question, thanks!

Great flow and easy to understand.

Great information and tips. I’m not thoroughly knowledgeable about DNA and Gedmatch. Jill gave grate suggestions about privacy and ownership of DNA. I manage four additional kits other than my own and know to be careful even with their trees. Jill mentioned getting a consent form signed and that I will have to due immediately. Looking forward to more webinars. Jamesetta ‘Jamie’ Hammons

Great presentation and clear explanation of the sources used and rationale.

Great presentation by one of the best!

Great step-by-step explanation showing how to solve an unknown parentage problem.

Great webinar – easy to understand.

Great. I now have to read the NGSQ article. I want to find a father for my late wife.

Helped me learn more for doing the search for grandparents in my family. Very well presented! I will be watching more of her webinars.

I always enjoy case studies such as this.

    I am never disappointed!

I am trying to find my adopted sister-in-law’s birth father. This definitely gave me some guidance.

I enjoyed it very much. I just found it a bit over my head. I think she did a fantastic job of explaining her strategies, purpose of each step and her entire process. I just need to catch up more on the technical side of DNA studies.

I enjoyed the questions, sort of, but I missed Jill’s presentation. I hope I’ll have access to the recorded webinar. Soon after I came in, I heard my name, as the winner of something, so I’ll look for an email with information on both.

I enjoyed the seminar. Some of the techniques were a little over my head but still got the general idea.

I found the webinar very interesting but a little over my head.

I had a little trouble following along. I guess I will have to watch it again. Thanks

I have a similar research project. Will watch this webinar again and review the NGSQ article. Thank you.

I help adoptees find their birth families and this was excellent. Thanks so much!

I just Love Jill! She always explains such interesting things!

I love learning from case studies. Jill’s speaking cadence is excellent; she doesn’t rush.

I really enjoyed the [presentation- very clear information.

I thought Jill Morelli was clear, thorough and provided an interesting and informative case study. I loved it. Thanks.

I’m trying to help a best friend find her birth parents. So I need all the help I can get.

    interesting

Interesting and well organized DNA case study.

    Interesting and well presented

Interesting approach in solving your unknowns

    Interesting, educational and thorough.

it was a bit over my head. Presenter was excellent.

    It was interesting.

It was probably a 5 for those who know something about DNA. Since I know next to nothing, it was way over my head!!! BUT it was very interesting!

It was very informative and well-paced. My only wish is that it was a bit longer so Jill could go deeper into her elimination process. Thanks!

    It was very interesting!

Jill clearly defines the process without using a lot of technical information.

Jill has a good way to explain the concepts and with the handout providing more detail, as you follow the case. One suggestion because it seemed a little easy: during the question and answer period, a boarder was mentioned who she considered but then eliminated; putting that into the case would help expand what other options might have been within the scope. This should be very helpful for identifying how a DNA match to my husband fits in the family through an adopted mother.

Jill is a terrific presenter. Clear, concise, and professional. She evokes a sense of trust. No wonder she was able to get several potential testers to follow through on DNA testing. Well done!!

Just a bit above my head, but I’ll get there.

Liked the step by step approach.

Love a good case study. Lots of ideas for research.

    LOVE DNA talks! Thank you.

Love the clear details, inlcuding relationships, project steps, and dna results that led to the conclusion.

Loved seeing her step by step details. I’m somewhat organized but I would love to be more methodical!

Molly is a great speaker and VERY knowledgeable. I learned a lot – always a good outcome.

Most enjoyable and educational. Good example of case study.

One of my favorite presenters. Complex methodology presented very well; not only did she verify that I was approaching my brick wall correctly, but she gave me ideas on how to present it to others in a clear, easy to understand way.

    Outstanding webinar!

Particularly liked her summary of how she answered the questions, but her honesty about how she learned – using the webinars, some she watched multiple times attests to the complexity of both her work and the quality of the webinar library! Excellent!

Really good case study. I think I can use Jill’s “average” technique to make one profile in WATO – I will be checking that out rather than having separate ones set out for each of my mother’s siblings for finding their grandfather’s father. Also, loved her “write as you go” technique and will follow up on that. I hate having a separate research log and keep abandoning them, here there and everywhere so needed another method. Thanks!

    So helpful! Thank you!

So thorough! Jill describes the situation so thoroughly. And does an excellent handout with lots of resources. Thank you!

    Terrific

Thank you for a very informative presentation. This gave me some ideas to use in my search for my birth father (no clue to a name, in England and not very good DNA matches). This has been a quest for over fifty years and I am not giving up. Thank you again.

    Thank you!

    Thank you.

    Thanks, good presentation.

The webinar was very good, but it leaves me frustrated with my own brick walls in this same arena!

There is a lot I still don’t understand. Time to get myself educated. I do use DNA Painter all the time.

This answered some of my questions and some was over my head, witch is ok. I loved the webinar. Thank you.

This was very interesting, a sensitive issue and complicated calculations. We have a new mystery young relative who popped up on Ancestry…to be continued.

This webinar was pertinent to research I am doing. Jill confirmed that I am on the right path in my own research! Thank you for making these webinars accessible for everyone!

    very advanced!

    Very applicable.

Very clear and well presented webinar.

Very clear explanations and very complete. Really impressive.

Very enjoyable!! I will look forward watching again.

Very good presentation. Well presented in a logical manner and covered most of what you need to know. Jill spoke well and clearly and certainly knew her subject matter. I’d recommend other talks by JIll based on this one.

Very good, but I still have a lot to understand about DNA!!!

Very good, clear, easy to follow!

Very good. A little over my head as DNA is hard for me to understand but I keep learning.
