I’ve enjoyed learning from Elizabeth since the 90s when I was able to go to the National Genealogical Society for the first time. She’s clear, concise and knowledgeable; a combination that works for me. Thank you very much Geoff for putting all this together and to Elizabeth for agreeing to bring this series to us.

ESM has been my genealogy guru for years. I heard her speak at national conferences and often listen to her classes, here on Legacy Family Tree, over and over. I always keep in mind her advice she gave years ago at conference…don’t be like a cow and eat the grass; be like pig and dig at those roots. ( I call this going hog wild! )
Thank you, Geoff and ESM for putting these monthly classes together. It will be wonderful to have another set of classes to listen to over and over again.

I’m so excited that we get to sit at the feet of Elizabeth Shown Mills this year… and that these webinars will be available for years to come. Even this brief “intro” was inspiring! Thank you, Geoff, for reaching out to ESM and inviting her to teach us this year!!!

She brings up a point many don’t realize. That before “online meetings” we really did have a definite lack of information available to us because of inability to take off work to go, just too far away to consider going, or family responsibilities. I was one of those persons that just had to miss out. Today, all we have to do is get online – what a HUGE advantage this is for modern researchers ot all levels!

As a longtime Legacy Family Tree Webinars subscriber I want to thank you for sharing the exchange you had with Elizabeth Shown Mills. It was very inspiring, and helped provide context for her upcoming “Best of ESM” webinars. Also, her very gracious comments regarding your contributions to the field, as being “in the forefront of the revolution of genealogy education” were so well-deserved. She expressed perfectly what so many of us in your audience have held as our esteem of you and your efforts on our behalf. Now you can add “Educator” to your many titles and skills! I believe she said what your listeners already know, your innovation with those early fledgling webinars really did make a unique contribution to genealogy, that has grown with successive refinements over the years – and now, this latest innovation: bringing Elizabeth Shown Mills to us. Thank you for taking the creative initiative to extend such a proposition to her. For that alone, I am forever in your debt. I know I have personally benefited enormously over the years from the webinar series, living remotely from any major metropolitan area. I also particularly appreciate the high scholarship standards presented by the BCG webinars (another one of your creative partnerships, no doubt). With such wonderful accomplishments in expanding the webinars to date, I can’t wait to see what will be your next creative innovations in the future. Thank you, Geoff, for your ongoing efforts to keep bringing us the best of the best. You have outdone yourself with the “Best of ESM” series. I only hope there will be more of her in future years in the Legacy Family Tree webinars offerings.

Fabulous interview and very inspiring. Her comment on “soul” made me smile as I agree 100%. My family can’t understand my interest in genealogy or why I spend so much time researching my ancestors, visiting the towns they lived in and chatting with family history societies and older generations still living in the towns. With all the hours of research I do, I often feel like I get to know the person. Can’t wait to watch the series!
