About this webinar

Who was Capt Thomas Hamilton? Y-DNA solves a 300 year old mystery of his origins. Using the Genealogical Proof Standard as well as DNA evidence, Shellee describes solving a 300 year old mystery: Who was Captain Thomas Hamilton? This talk briefly describes the genealogical proof standard, the question relating to Hamiltons in Colonial New England, and describes another Irish Hamilton whose parentage is being addressed using DNA. We will cover targeted testing and how to get started using DNA to solve family mysteries.

Always interesting to follow someone’s research approach

    Case studies are always informative

Excellent slides. Very helpful topic and information was provided to attendees. Thanks!

Excellent webinar demonstrating combining GPS with DNA! This is a very thorough webinar. Shellee is an excellent speaker! Tremendous amount of very useful tips and strategies! Thanks, Shellee and Geoff!

Excellent webinar. I learned a lot about DNA and using the GPS.

Gave me lots to think about. Wish my one ancestor was not an only child would help solve the dilemma of his mother.

Gave me some new ideas on where to look for more Hamiltons.

    Good ideas for searching genetics.

    Good information

    Good information.

    great information

Great presentation! Thank you! : )

great slides. great “beginer” info. basically great reminders on the gps!

Great to hear how Shellee traced Thomas Hamilton to Duke of Abercorn. I wish I could find the mssing link also.

    Great webinar!

I clearly need to do more with DNA–learning a lot first! Thanks!

I did pick up on one item to look for my brick wall.

Interesting case study. Wish I were related!

Interesting webinar on DNA and applying the GPS in doing research.

Really liked the case study approach. Wish there was more easily understandable ways to interpret which DNA markers are more relevant and which are less.

Shellee Morehead is a must see presenter. The webinar was informative and entertaining.

She’s obviously a very knowledgeable researcher and laid out her information clearly enough that I could understand her point. I will need to go back and view it again. The presentation was very information dense and I want to make sure I understood it all correctly.

She’s very amusing while being informative.

So much fun! Loved this webinar. Thanks for providing it.

    Thank you.

Thanks for all the good genealogy!

Thanks Geoff. This is just what I needed.

The DNA part was a little over my head but interesting. I did learn a better way to organize my thought and research process.

The webinar drove home the value of the y-DNA testing as a very important aid in genealogical research. I’ve already understood the reliability of the mt-DNA, but this gave me more confidence in using the y_DNA. Thank you, Ms. Morehead

This covered 2 subjects that I’m most interested in right now: GPS and DNA. Thank you!

This was my first webinar with Shelley Morehead, and I am really impressed by her work and presentation. She broke down DNA use in establishing proof in an accessible fashion. Will definitely check out her other webinars online. Thanks!

Very clear presentation! Did not start in the middle and assume a lot of prior knowledge. Liked the combination of GPS and case study.

Very detailed in her GPS explanation, along with the Y-DNA application aspect.

    very educational

    very good

Very good webinar. I would like to see this applied to a southern U S research problem where there are less traditional records available than for New England.

    ery good!

    Very good!

Very helpful. We are researching Y-DNA in my family. I hope that there is more Y-DNA going on in England/UK since we have very few matches so far.

Very interesting and informative webinar! Thank you very much.
