Key points and insights

This webinar explores the innovative intersection of technology and family history, featuring internationally recognized lecturer Lisa Alzo. It addresses a common challenge for genealogists: how to engage younger, "uninitiated" relatives who may find traditional pedigree charts and raw records unappealing. By leveraging the advanced suite of MyHeritage tools, the presentation demonstrates how to transform academic research into compelling, interactive experiences that bridge the generational gap. The session advocates for a shift from passive recordkeeping to active storytelling, humanizing ancestors through vivid visuals and narrative biographies.

  • Transforming Dry Data into Emotional Connections: Instead of overwhelming non-genealogists with massive amounts of data, the webinar emphasizes a "strategy of connection". By focusing on one compelling story at a time and using "wow factor" visuals, researchers can turn passive observers into active participants in their family's legacy.
  • Leveraging AI for Narrative and Clarity: The session highlights powerful tools like the AI Biographer and Scribe AI, which convert chronological facts into flowing narratives and transcribe illegible historical documents. These features assist researchers in producing polished, Wikipedia-style content that is ready to share, even if they do not consider themselves professional writers.
  • Humanizing History through Animation and Color: Features such as Deep Nostalgia and LiveMemory allow static photos to be brought to life with facial animation and action-driven sequences. When combined with photo repair and colorization, these tools help younger generations see ancestors as real people with unique personalities rather than just names on a page.

For those looking to revitalize their family history projects and ensure their research is preserved by future generations, viewing the full webinar is highly recommended. It offers practical, live demonstrations of how to create "moments" rather than just files, making genealogy accessible and exciting for every family member. Genealogists are also encouraged to explore the comprehensive syllabus, which includes additional resources and specific action items to help illuminate the living connections within their own family trees.

OMG! Yes… I was talking to my parents about who will take over the family history after me… I love the idea to engage the younger generation to be interested in genealogy! I loved the “Don’t send a File…. Send a Moment!” Grab the younger generation with the technology that they are into! Thanks for all the tips on the AI tools with MyHeritage! Love it!
