Adwoa Ulzen-Setrakian is the founder of spanDNA and Human Temple Therapeutics LLC, and a professional genealogist whose research contributed to the establishment of the Elmina-Java Museum in Ghana. Her passion for genealogy—and later, genetic genealogy—began in high school when she first learned of her Euro-African ancestors. This discovery sparked a growing dedication to helping families of African descent explore the intricate, often untold stories within humanity’s interconnected heritage. As a family historian, licensed educator, and master social worker, Adwoa has spent over two decades addressing the gaps that arise when traditional records and oral histories fall short when used in isolation. Drawing on her expertise and collaborative efforts, she accompanies families in restoring lost connections and unveiling hidden histories, using strategies that position them as active protagonists in their own search. These approaches help families uncover meaningful insights into ancestral ties, revealing and restoring veiled memories.
