It can be quite daunting to find your ancestors who lived in the Greater London area as records are held at numerous archives. Parishes number in the hundreds and surprisingly, many Londoners in the 18th and 19th centuries were quite mobile. This presentation will take you through a variety of record collections including birth, death, marriage, poor law and school records. Resources like Charles Booth’s poverty maps to find out more about where your ancestor lived will be discussed as will the various occupation guilds and trades.

Great presentation. Have just discovered my 11th gr uncle, Lord Mayor 1610-1611, Lord Craven. Am dying to get more books to read. So this was so helpful to start my search of his life and times. Have read everything I can get my hands on already on Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.
Loads of useful information on researching London based ancestors. Well presented by Cathie with readable supporting slides. Cathie’s notes support the talk with the web address information and more.
Well presented with wonderful documentation helps. I will be reviewing this again. I am sure I missed something that I will want.
A good reference to find records in other parts of London. i especially liked the family tree/
Excellent clues given for location of sources in UK when tracing ancestors – such a vast array to keep me busy for a few lifetimes! Special thanks to Cathie.
Comprehensive presentation. I have been studying Middlesex for about two years, but certainly learned new information. Loved the presentation and the slide show. The syllabus looks wonderful.
Lots of really helpful info….Will definitely be revisiting this webinar!
