A remarkable and thorough discussion of the myths and assumptions perpetuated through the decades concerning Scotland had its history. As a genealogist with ancestors from Derry and the Ilse of Bute, who migrated to Victoria in the 1840's, Bruce's presentation was absolutely essential to renew a journey of re-examining much of what has been family "lore" of our beginnings. Thank you Bruce, for the references and hints/tips for us to follow up to get closer to the facts, and to displace assumptions/errors made by so many so-called "experts in the past.

I was astounded at the amount of Scottish history Mr. Drurie pushed through in such a short time period. He really knows his stuff, and was able to clarify fact from fiction for us, and believe it or not, there is a lot of fiction floating around in Scottish history.

Well that blew all my preconceived "knowledge" out of the water. Now I can explain a bit more clearly my mums Scottish-Irish DNA to her.
