Kathryn Lake Hogan

A native of Southwestern Ontario, Canada, Kathryn Lake Hogan is a professional genealogist, educator, and speaker specializing in Canadian family history. In 2027, she celebrates the 20th anniversary of Looking4Ancestors, the genealogy business she founded in 2007. For two decades, Kathryn has helped family history researchers discover their Canadian ancestry through practical research guidance and her approachable, insightful teaching style.

A graduate of the International Institute for Genealogical Studies, where she earned professional learning certificates in Methodology, English, and Canadian genealogy, Kathryn is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Genealogical, Palaeographic & Heraldic Studies at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

Kathryn has presented at major genealogy events, including RootsTech and Legacy Family Tree Webinars, and has taught at the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy and the NGS GRIP Genealogy Institute. Known for her engaging and, dare we say, fun teaching style, she brings Canadian family history to life through her webinars, courses, and popular video series, Genealogy with a Canadian Twist. Her articles have appeared in Family Tree Magazine, APG Quarterly, and The New York Researcher.

When she’s not studying, researching, or teaching, Kathryn can be found at the gym, where she’s a beginner powerlifter. (Yes, really.)
