Very much informative. For the mechanics, I was glad to learn about other geographical map sites and see some comparisons. Maps from different years of the same place, I can see is often crucial. Your insight that boarders changed often and continue to change, perhaps daily and weekly in your example of Ukraine right now. I am currently doing some research for a friend on his Hungarian family. It was helpful to understand why I am finding births reported in Hungary and Austria for the same person.

Dave, you are a Plethora of Knowledge on the Use of Maps for Genealogy, a Case Study in the History of a Place. This was wonderful! So timely. Sad, but also a reminder of what is truely important as far as the lost records are concerned verses loss of or harm to loved ones. I do just wish I could browse your library & sit in your presence to learn from you. Can't wait until your next webinar.

Was impressed by the speakers knowledge base. Wish he'd mentioned his own foreign language facility and how he picked up familiarity in the written and spoken languages. Appreciated the speaker emphasizing the importance of all documents - even more recent ones that lead you back on a timeline, and collecting/saving the documents when you first encounter them. Good geography lesson and really a whirlwind tour of changing boundaries from the beginning of the 20 century up to current time.

Absolutely fascinating - and one of the older maps of Poland even showed the town a cousin's ancestors came from in the mid-19th century! Thank you so much. I'll definitely be re-watching the recording.
