The land now known as British Columbia has been inhabited for many centuries, but most genealogical records started after the 1858 Gold Rush, which prompted many arrivals from California. Today, the province leads the rest of Canada in its commitment to making available a comprehensive collection of valuable resources. This session will enable researchers to make the most of those sources, and build a better understanding of your family’s connections to British Columbia.

Very informative! I learned a lot about BC records.
Informative and interesting. Thank you.
Thank you, Dave for a wonderful presentation! It was clear & easy to understand. I believe you being a newspaper man made it all that much more interesting. I loved all the great pictures! The stories of both your personal family history, how you found them, some of the pitfalls to be aware of, the resources & some relatable, famous people stories were fascinating & fun. Thank you for setting up, managing & sharing the website CanGenealogy to help out others, be a resource in our Canadian research.
Dave – thank you! Your detailed presentation and accompanying syllabus offer numerous resources to help with researching our ancestors in British Columbia.
Dave is an excellent presenter and researcher. I can’t wait to look into the many online resources he shared with us. His cautions about published incorrect names, ages, addresses, etc. are valuable reminders.
Excellent!
I know Dave and each time I hear him speak I learn a lot more about Canada. I will be watching this again.
