What an awesome presentation and I learned so much!
I am the Director of the NT Chinese Museum (Chung Wah Society) in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, and responsible for maintaining the family trees. On a few fortuitous occasions, I have been able to make family connections to US and Canadian records. Linda's presentation has encouraged me to delve further into this research avenue.
Ms Yip was so inciteful and gave me hope for my own research.

I thought I had an impossible problem to solve due to very little documentation. This webinar has given me hope.
Excellent - very clear and well-structured presentation. Lots of transferrable strategies for: Other geographical locations - eg Chinese miners and market gardeners in Australia during/after 1850s gold rushes, impacted by consequences of legal and social practices in US and Canada; Other under-represented communities, whether indigenous to, or relocating into, regions being newly-colonised by European "settlers". A wonderful speaker on a topic most of us know little about. It opened our eyes to the challenges of Chinese genealogy but gave us hope for limited success in identifying possible sources and a research strategy. Linda is very organized and develops the subject in a logical order. She is a pleasure to listen too. You should invite her back to develop aspects of her presentation in more detail.
