I LOVE using Excel as a resource for my research. One of the first workbooks I created was two worksheet for each state and the US index up front that was like my personalized copy of The Red Book. I digress. I was able to do what Ari had done to correlate my family to the slaveholder family. I was lucky that family used the slaveholder's surname, it wasn't difficult. Ari helped me understand that the same thing can be done even if the slaveholder's surname wasn't assumed.
Informative and very helpful. Definitely enjoyed the Excel demonstration showing how to set up, organize, sort and populate the spreadsheet.
This session was filled with great information. I am going to watch the rebroadcast when it posts because I want to take my time and really absorb all of the research and spreadsheet tips. Ari did a phenomenal job. Thank you!!

If I could give a higher score than 5 I would! Not "just" on excel (of which her work is out of the ballpark!) but in her general scope of knowledge about the records concerning enslaved people, the logic of her approach in how she asks questions about gaps in the research, thinking about where one might go to find complementary information to fill those holes, was spot on! I joined Legacy FT webinars for precisely this kind of quality!
