About this webinar

Genealogists LOVE cemeteries but we don’t always know the history behind them. In this presentation we will take a look at the history of US cemeteries, what you would expect to find depending on time and place, and where you can find records beyond the usual places.

Oh, and yes, my grandmother's body was donated to a university for research. Hers and other bodies were eventually all cremated and buried in one plot at a cemetery. Their names are all on one marker where they were buried.

My parents were both cremated. Half of their ashes are in a niche together. The other half are split. My dad is at a columbarium at a church that he loved. My mom is buried in a family plot where her parents and other members were buried in regular caskets. An uncle was also cremated and some of his ashes were spread at a mountain he loved and most of his ashes were buried in a family plot. So those who were cremated could have their ashes placed in multiple places.
