Malcolm Green has worked as a software engineer for over 30 years and has his own company, TelGen Limited, based near York in the UK. He has worked with many generations of computer hardware and software over the years, and has been involved in both development and support. Most of the development he has undertaken over the last ten years has been using Microsoft technology on Windows-based systems. The advent of touchscreen-based smartphones brought new development challenges and opportunities and, as a long-standing user of Legacy, he saw the potential for an app which would allow a Legacy database to be viewed and updated on a mobile device. This resulted in the Families app, initially for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and then for Android devices.
