David Dowell has two degrees in history and two in library science as well as 35 years of experience as a librarian and 4 years as a special investigative officer in the USAF. He taught courses in U.S. genealogy research, European genealogy research and Ethics in the Information Age. He has chaired both the Ethics and Genealogy Committees of the American Library Association. As a member of the ISOGG, NGS, NEHGS, SCGS & MTGS, he coordinates 2 surname yDNA projects and a yDNA haplogroup project. He blogs as Dr. D. Digs Up Ancestors. His two most recent books are Crash Course in Genealogy (2011) and NextGen Genealogy: The DNA Connection (2015).
