Most genealogists know to look in a cemetery to find their ancestors, but what about the funeral home? Funeral home records can provide loads of genealogically rich information. This presentation will teach participants what types of records are typically found in funeral homes, how to locate these resources online and ''in the field'', as well as provide real life examples of how to search for ancillary clues in funeral home records.
Daniel Earl live in Michigan. He holds a BA in Anthropology and an MS in Psychology. Dan is an educator, college administrator, and writer. He is the the vice-president of the Michigan Genealogical Council and President of the Hungarian Genealogical Society of Michigan. He has been doing genealogical research for over 25 years. Dan has spoken at RootsTech and other conferences around the United States and Canada. He specializes in funeral home and cemetery research. He grew up living above his father's funeral home and offers a unique perspective and insight into these valuable records.
