At the end of the World War One, there were fifty-two so called 'Thankful Villages' in the whole of Great Britain; villages to which all the young men who went to war, returned alive. Of these, fourteen have come to be known as doubly thankful - also losing no-one in World War Two. This webinar will provide an insight into the experience which shattered the pre-WW1 order and transformed society irrevocably, particularly in the small villages of rural Britain.
