We will learn step by step, how to utilize mitochondrial DNA testing at Family Tree DNA to get the most out of your results. We’ll look at little known methods to obtain information, even if your match doesn’t have a tree. We’ll talk about using resources such as Geni, WikiTree and others to break down mitochondrial brick walls. Lastly, we’ll discuss projects and using mitochondrial DNA in conjunction with autosomal for a slam-dunk.
What do I do with mT DNA file from inherited teeth? I can have mT DNA extracted but what can I do with the data? FTDNA transfers autosomal from select companies only. I don’t know who the teeth belonged to or if female or male. Any suggestions? Loved the webinar — lots of good tips.
Thank you for an interesting webinar – my history is from Southern Africa, a complex mix of Dutch, German, English, Scandanavian, & Dutch East Indian trading countries. I have done autosomal & mitochondrial dna for myself & my now late Father so this all helps to draw in the information. South Africa has the added complication of endogamy / pedigree collapse which complicates results with thousands of cousin matches on Ancestry. Thank you ….
Terrific program! Loved the idea of following down female descendants of GG Grandmothers to find a ‘live one’ who might be willing to take a mito DNA test. Found several potential lines, but have not yet identified a live person with a contact to consult. But will really try!
I love all the resources that were shared. DNA is complex but after the class I understood more. Roberta simplifies it.
So interesting!! I’m a long way off from being a proficient DNA analyzer, but I am excited to keep at it. Great presenter, great topic. Thank you!
Totally outstanding!! Full of helpful information presented in an exciting way. I’ve always been one of those who say, “Don’t bother to mtDNA test”. My mtDNA results have been sitting unused for years. Your information has excited me to explore!
since I have not tested yet and have not studied any of the programs about DNA, A lot of the information was way above my understanding, It was a very good information. I will have to review it after
How wonderful to be pushed a little deeper in knowledge, while still coming back to my comfort zone in a relaxed and delightful way – exactly what I like in a knowledgable webinar. Wonderful resources and sharing.
