Our ancestors had to deal with time--time of day, day of the month, the year and how they recorded each. As countries changed from the Julian to the Gregorian calendars, countries implemented those changes differently. Dates were different and the identification of the date of the recorded Moveable Feast Days makes for challenges for the family historian. Multiple methods for determining the date when it is entered as a feast day will be illustrated.

I think this is the most complete discussion of the changing calendar dates that I have witnessed. I recently had to explain in a Mid-Atlantic SIG how upset Daniel Boone was with the Julian to Gregorian calendar change that took effect in British America during his lifetime (Chesterfield's Act or British Calendar Act of 1751) Masterful job Jill! worth having a legacy membership for this webinar alone
Some many facts on time. I think I will just leave figuring out the actual birthdates and anniversaries to someone else but I sure loved this presentation. There was so much I did not known the photos and graphics were fabulous!
Very Informative.
Very informative.
Very clearly presented! I had no idea there were so many versions of calendars over the years. Interesting mention of Wiki's to help understand the terms and dates for moveable feasts in Scandinavia. This was my first webinar with Jill Morelli and will definitely seek out more available on Legacy.
