When the United States acquired land that had been under the governance of foreign nations (Great Britain, France, Spain, and Mexico), the U.S. government agreed to grant title to landowners who could prove prior legal land rights from those foreign governments. This webinar shows how to access and use records resulting from the adjudication of these “private land claims,” which may provide significant family information.

Excellent series! I learned quite a lot today that will be extremely helpful in my research. I'm most appreciative to the lecturers who took time to share their respective area of genealogical expertise and to Geoff Rasmussen and his team who coordinated and executed this series!
It IS a complicated area of research but I learned so much from this and know I'll re-watch this again and again.

Rick Sayre does a great job of presenting information on land records. It is not an easy subject matter in most cases, so having an expert like Rick pave the way for us is an enormous bonus.
