Ko tō ringa ki ngā rākau Pākehā. The history of migration and settlement of Polynesia can make Māori/Polynesian atDNA test results extra challenging to interpret. Learn how the results of a Big Y test from Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) can help untangle the multiple connections with your atDNA matches and trace your male ancestral lines from Aotearoa New Zealand to the wider Pacific and beyond. The presentation draws on our whānau's (family's) experience and whakapapa (genealogy and family history).

Absolutely Brilliant webinar, which is a must see again, to get the most from the presentation. Excellent case study.
All new to me, thank you for sharing
Excellent, well done Elena! 🙂
Great presentation of Big Y and explaining the haplotree!
I really enjoyed the presentation
Ka pai that was so good, she explained so well 🙂
There are not many webinars on the internet on Big y or polynesian endogamy so this will be popular
This was a great webinar. So interesting thanks
Very well presented.
We need more on other populations. And doing BIG Y, very complicated, but pretty well explained, great graphics. Again, I loved the migrational map and how the BIG Y results and the haplotree matches the migration on the map.
You must invite her again! She did an amazing job of laying a foundation and showing the assumptions used in the math for popular software. The multiple connections to specific ancestors is something that affects many communities so this webinar should make many people pause and question. The concept of migration is interesting too. It was worth staying up late for and listening to even though it’s on the other side of the world from my family tree. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
