About this webinar

Henrietta Dixon was never enumerated with individuals identified as her parents in a federal census. Records revealing her family members, including her father, are often conflicting and open up new questions. Additionally, multiple marriages further obscure her identity. This case study uncovers Henrietta’s maiden name and emphasizes the importance of a focused research question when attempting to meet the Genealogical Proof Standard.

Often when I view these webinars, some of the most valuable tips I pick up along the way are subtle things used in the explanation of the main topic, such as the chart Ms. LaRue used to organize the records she found on Henrietta Dixon. While the main topic taught me a great deal, this chart method is something I’m going to immediately implement to help me review my own brick walls!

I thought the presenter was very professional & certainly answered her research question while meeting the GPS standards. A chart that just listed the order of the sources she researched & then reviewed would have been helpful nofollow her reasoning.

Solid information and for me an introduction to using a chart, even with census there was so much to learn. Those details help to get the much needed documents for my use. I surely need to focus on the question.
