Hi Alison, I found your posts on RootsChat
re: your ancestor Jeremiah Carey. He married Margaret McKinnon & they had 2 daughters. Winifred Carey McCabe had my great grandmother Ethel McCabe with my great grandfather Joe Stanaway in Northland NZ they had my grandfather David Stanaway & he had my mum Monica Ruth Stanaway. I’m trying to find out more info on Jeremiah Carey. I see from your posts he passed in 1859 & I’ve found a newspaper obituary for Margaret McKinnon Fern where it mentioned she was the widow of Jeremiah Carey. She remarried a Thomas Fern. I can’t find any info on where Jeremiah was buried or on his relatives. Was he Irish or Scottish? I saw on a post he married Margaret McKinnon in Edinburgh & she was pregnant on the ship to Sydney maybe with my great great grandmother Winifred Carey McCabe. What was the name of the son he had in Dublin? Did his son remain in Ireland? On RootsChat my profile is EthelMcCabeStanaway or email astromiss23 at yahoo.co.nz
