Great information that I can use on my current analysis of the 1861 Census of England and Wales. I'm slowly becoming an 'expert' on the small Parish of Eaton Socon and surrounding "hamlets". My copy of Genealogy Standards is becoming very tattered with exhaustive use!
I liked her clear explanations, covering some edge cases, and specific examples of how to record, analyze, and document the information.
After all these years, finding, reading and comparing many families in census records across the country and in Canada -- I know I missed some details that will now be more significant to their stories. Thank you Diane.
Although I am not actually studying to become a Certified Genealogist, I find these seminars to be succinct with so much information to process. It keeps me thinking in a logical and synchronized manner, ordered and thorough.
Such good suggestions and information for researching the Census. Really like knowing about looking for the schedules as well. Want to put into action right away. We have binders with copies of all the family related Census reports so can look at in our home at any time. Now I must get busy researching correctly.
This presentation was very informative with the suggestions of viewing the greater community of the featured census record, in order to understand any errors or details.
Sometimes the person who is recording what they think the census says, reads it completly wrong. We should always read the record ourselves and not rely on someone elses opinion of what it says. thank you for some new ideas for my research
