Whether you are an established expert or a rising voice in the field, we welcome your submissions. We encourage you to push the boundaries of traditional genealogy education and help us shape a dynamic and forward-thinking lineup.
Submissions are for innovative classes that are
- 60 minutes plus Q/A, or
- 20-minutes-or-under “Webinar Shorts” or
- 10- minutes-or-under TechZone videos.
All speakers are welcome to submit.
Innovative Formats & Encouraged Topics
We’re especially interested in proposals that explore these new and exciting formats:
- Deep Dive Series: provide 2-3 sessions on a single, complex topic, providing a deep, comprehensive exploration for advanced genealogists. Sessions could include advanced DNA analysis, complex case studies, or a deep dive into a record group.
- Interactive Sessions: Engage our community with an “Ask Me Anything” or “Stump the Expert” style webinar.
- Panel Discussions: propose a topic that could be discussed with 3-4 experts (like “DNA vs. Documents: Which is King in Proving Parentage?” or “Top 3 Tools in My Genealogy Toolbox”)
- QuickTips: suggest several 5-minutes-or-less tips on any topic (a fun tech tip, a favorite obscure record, a what-I-wish-I-knew-when-I-started-genealogy tip). We’ll combine a few speakers into a full-length webinar for a fun experience. We’ve done it before, and the audience LOVED it!
All topics are welcome, but we also have a high demand for the following areas:
- Hands-on AI: less theory and more hands-on with AI tools and their interplay with genealogy (especially, but not limited to “how AI helped me solve a research problem” topics)
- Curated Top 10s of Places: Spotlight hidden gems or new tools, as showcased in titles like “Top 10 Little Known Websites for Virginia Genealogy” or “Five New Tools for Finding Your German Ancestors”
- DNA: especially “how-I-found-these-parents-using-DNA case studies”
- Foundational Skills: We always need great content for beginners, as well as presentations that cover core genealogical methodologies, strategies, and case studies.
- Historical records and events. Focus on underutilized or newly digitized record sets.
- Software and Technology: Encouraged are topics that are not necessarily genealogy-specific but could be useful (e.g., advanced spreadsheet techniques, project management tools)
- Diverse Ancestries & Regions: Spotlight specific ethnic groups and regions, including Africa, African-American, Asia, Europe, Jewish, Scandinavia, U.S. states, Down Under, South America, Canada, and Mexico.
- MyHeritage: Since we also host the MyHeritage Webinar Series, any submissions relating to MyHeritage.com are most welcome
- Organization: We usually do one or two of these each year – share how you organize your papers or digital files
Numbered titles, such as “Top 5 Strategies to Researching in ____…” prove to attract large audiences.
Peruse our library at https://familytreewebinars.com/webinar-library to familiarize yourself with past topics, ensuring your proposal stands out with fresh ideas (although we are happy with fresh perspectives and new angles on existing topics).
